diameter hole to entice the Downy
Woodpecker. The hole is large enough for
the this bird, yet small enough to keep out
predator birds such as starlings and

Where To Hang The
Birdhouse
Ideally, the Woodpecker Birdhouse should
be hung in a partially shaded area that does
not have too much activity. In a hot
environment, the opening of the birdhouse
should be facing North or East, which will help
to minimize the afternoon
heat.

hung between 6 and 20 feet above ground.

to the entrance of the Downy Woodpecker house
is highly recommended. The predator
guard will offer much needed
protection for the birds' eggs as it
