Betterbird’s
has designed your birdhouse using an easy
twist latch on the door, making it simple
for you to clean. Not
only is it easy to clean, but your
birdhouse is also hand crafted with
Western Red Cedar which has a natural,
organic resistance to moisture, decay and
insect damage.
To keep your birds
healthy, your birdhouse should be cleaned
at least once a year. When
you clean out your birdhouse, you should
wait until the birds have finished
breeding.
First, clear out
the old nesting materials. Next,
wipe down the interior walls and the
bottom surface of the house with a mild
bleach solution (see Step by Step
instructions below). Following, wipe down
the interior of the birdhouse with clean
water to rinse the remainder of the
bleach solution.
After the house
has been cleaned and rinsed, you should
keep the door open and wait for it to dry
completely before closing the birdhouse.
It would be ideal to air dry the
birdhouse in the sun.
Note that it is
important to avoid the use of strong
detergents and chemicals. These
may be harmful to the birds and interfere
with the natural, organic resistance of
Western Red Cedar.
