3 Easy Steps to Attract Birds to Your Yard: 

Birdfeeders and Birdhouses and Water

1.  Buy a birdfeeder

Attract Birds Putting up a bird feeder is the simplest and fastest way to attract birds to your yard.  Within a few days of hanging your feeder you will start to see a steady stream of a various birds making regular visits to your yard.

2.  Buy a birdhouse

Putting a birdhouse in your yard provides the birds with a place to nest and raise a family.

Birdhouse Before you decide on which bird house to buy,  you should be aware that there are many designs available that are unsuitable for the birds.  An unsuitable birdhouse might not attract birds, may attract bird types that you do not want in your yard, and they may actually be harmful.   The key to a good birdhouse is having one that will protect the birds'nest and birds' eggs. 

The following are important factors to consider before purchasing a birdhouse:

  • the dimensions of your house, including entrance hole size and floor size 
  • a sloped and overhanging roof
  • appropriate ventilation and drainage holes
  • being able to open the house easily
  • not having a perch
  • being made from a natural organic wood, such as Western Red Cedar

3. Provide a source of water

Birds need water for drinking a bathing.  A birdbath is a great idea. 

Bird bathA birdbath should be filled with fresh water frequently and cleaned at least once a week. The depth of the water should not exceed more than 1 inch (2.5cm).
